2 Part Technique - Marcelo considers the Over Under Pass vs Half Guard his best pass, and if given the choice, he prefers to use this Over Under Control to pass an unknown opponent's half guard. An important component of the control is the farside underhook, of which your opponent will more than likely try to pummel back for himself. If he manages to sneak his forearm under your armpit, drop your weight onto his arm to cut him off at the elbow before he has a chance to push it even deeper. If you feel that there's no chance of recovering your underhook back without relieving the pressure and allowing him to win his own, punch your cross arm underneath his arm for the Turning Pass. Properly maintaining the cross farside underhook consists of driving your weight high on his triceps, and anchoring your hand high on his back with a gi grip. Before he has a chance to squirm free, be well on your way to kicking your leg free from his Half Guard. Use your shin to pry your knee through first, and then a swift kick with the ball of your foot on the top of his knee to pass your foot. Establish the top position not with Side Control, since you don't have domain over his head, but with the North South Position.

Marcello, can I ask?  I get stuck a lot when they guy in this position (or even side controlled) pushes my head and hip away (sometimes my tricep).  I find it quite hard to turn out.  Is there a solution to him pushing you down hard... down towards his legs?

Thanks.. if you can help :O)
