2 Part Technique - To ensure that you secure a deep cross farside underhook for the Turning Pass, don't simply touch down your elbow to the mat, reach as far as you can across your opponent's body before you turn your hip and anchor down on his arm. Use your bottom shin to kick your top knee free from his half guard, and then utilize short stomps to release your foot for the pass. Transition to the North South to establish the top position because you'll need to put weight onto head without the use of your arms. If your opponent pummels for an underhook that is too deep to star the Turning Pass, reverse his half guard with the Back Step Pass. Before your hip touches down on the other side, punch your arm under his other armpit to gain a cross farside underhook. This time, kick your trapt leg free with your top foot, and use your hand to pull his gi pants if needed. Again, switch to the North South since the cross underhook doesn't allow for direct head control with your arms.
