Breaking the Closed Guard, Toreando Pass vs Open Guard
3 Part Technique - The first step in passing the Closed Guard is to gain posture. Position your arms correctly and prepare to stand up to uncross his ankles. Once his guard is open, keep your elbows close and your posture low so that you do not give your opponent any openings to sweep. Grab hold of the inside of his gi pants by the knees, steering one leg forward and the other leg backward for the Toreando Pass. Land with onto his torso with your trap as you run around his legs and establish the pass.
