Counter vs Spiral Guard
Canadian Rob asks Marcelo how he handles the Spiral Guard, aka Reverse De La Riva. Thwarting your opponent's plans of attack from here consists of primarily three different aspects: 1) Don't let him lift up your leg; insomuch as to hook his legs to prevent being elevated. 2) Control his near knee if you push his guard for the Folding Pass; control his far leg if you pull it for a Knee Slide. And, 3) grab his near wrist to prevent him from grabbing onto your heel or diving under to take your back via Berimbolo.
