3 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches several variations on the N/S Choke from Knee-On-Belly: [I] Transition to the Knee-On-Belly Position whenever you want your opponent to open himself up for attack; as he goes to push your knee off of his stomach, drop yourself down onto his neck, wrapping your arm around his head for the choke. Quickly, move off of your hip and align your legs in a sprawl along the North South Position. Finish the choke by connecting your hands in a Gable Grip and drop your shoulder into his throat for the squeeze. [II] Oftentimes, the opponent will whip his legs to the side in order to increase his ability to look into the choke and defend. Prevent this by warding away his knee before clasping your hands together. [III] If the opponent doesn't react to your transition to the Knee-On-Belly Position from Side Control, gain wrist control on both arms and clear his hands away from his face. When the gap is sufficient enough, land on his neck for the N/S Choke.
