3 Part Lesson — Marcelo shares one of his quickest passes against new-school guard game: [I] When standing in Reverse De-La-Riva Guard, maintain balance by holding the opponent's top ankle and extending your inside knee against his hook. Take the opponent by surprise by shooting your knee through his guard, landing by his side for Underhook and Head Control. [II] If the opponent switches his grip on your heel to invert for a Spiral Guard Sweep, keep his top leg from crossing in front of you and drive your knee down and away to take away his space. Again, catch him off guard with speed and power by committing your hips into the Knee Slide Pass. [III] If the opponent quickly turns over for a Single after you land by his side, prepare to run around his head and Take his Back or recover the Side Control.
