2on1 Control Defense
Joe asks Marcelo about how to properly defend the 2on1 Control. You must match your opponent's intensity, and mirror his movement; if you find yourself captured in the 2on1, chances are the opponent's game is strong--so your escape must be equally strong or stronger. Additionally, you must post against the opponent's shoulder with your free hand to prevent yourself from being crossed farther. If you cannot generate enough energy to break hold while kneeling, increase your output by pushing off of the ground with your foot--but be wary of attacks to your leg after and during; prepare yourself to either step away, out, or inside.
