4 Part Lesson — Paul shows his "Crawling" to Mount Series: [I] After pushing the opponent flat on his back, cover his hips with Double Under Control to stifle his Butterfly Guard and begin crawling up over one of his legs for a high Half Mount hook. While keeping the Half Mount Hook high and his Butterfly hook under tension, climb your shoulders up to gain an underhook on the same side as your Half Mount and place your forehead down on the mat by his opposite shoulder. Shift your weight toward the Butterfly Hook to press it down and step over into Full Mount, ready to block his Bridge Escape with your Mount Hook. [II] If your opponent takes out his remaining Butterfly Hook to establish Half Guard, shift your weight into the danger zone provided that you post with your hand, and pry out your leg to gain the High Half Mount Hook. Cross your foot to the outside and cut your knee around his knee to step over into Full Mount. [III] If you can't pry out your leg from the Half Guard while holding the Half Mount with a Nearside Underhook, step up and drive your trapt knee down to that mat where you can press with your hand to free your knee into ¾ Mount. Connect your hands together with his head inside and cut your knee across his body for the pass. [IV] If while holding the High Half Mount Hook, your opponent happens to release his Butterfly Hook and makes it difficult to step around to Full Mount, driver your knee over to ¾ Mount and hit the Knee Across Pass.
