2 Part Lesson — Paul covers all the details that make up Marcelo's version of the Farside Armbar: [I] After passing the opponent's guard with an underhook, e.g. Knee Slide or Over/Under Passes, the most important element for connecting directly into the submission is the isolation of the opponent's hand to the outside; place your head down on the mat to block his arm from swinging in to the inside as a frame. Next, clear his other arm by pinning, wiping, and/or stapling it as you bring the opponent up on his side with the underhook. Rather than spinning around straight into the Armlock Position, where you can potentially drift away from the opponent's shoulder, shoot your foot across his chest and land on your shoulder, all the while maintaining tension in the arm to prevent him from clasping his hands together in defense. [II] If your opponent happens to clasp his hands together to defend the hyperextension, remove his elbow off of your stomach to ruin his frame and wrap your arm around his wrist in a figure-four to break his lock for the Armbar.
