Double Elbow Control Hook Lift from Butterfly → Inverted Armbar from Butterfly → Hook Sweep from Inverted Armbar Escape
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo coaches Paul & Matheus through the Inverted Armbar: [I] When your opponent won't let you pummel for Double Underhooks from Butterfly, grip his elbows from the outside and launch him into the air overhead. When he posts, smack his elbow with your forearm as you sit up, extending him away with your hooks, and clasp your hands together for the Inverted Armbar. It is important to utilize a Seatbelt Grip because if your opponent is strong or heavy, you will want to structure your arms in a manner that allows you to frame him away. [II] It is important to time your strike the moment you hear his hand post by your ear on the mat. While practicing, go easy on your opponent's elbow; however, during competition, be sure to hit the arm with sufficient force to cause your opponent to tap before he thinks about his escape. [III] If your opponent is very strong, he may be able to pull you along with his arm out of the submission. When you feel him pull, use his his force against him and let it carry you into a forward Hook Sweep. Since he is concentrating on just defending his arm from the attack, he will be caught off guard when you come up for the sweep.
