3 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows what to do when you can't break your opponent's standing grips: [I] Hold the material of the gi behind your opponent's triceps and place your foot on the outside of his knee before you sit down into Butterfly Guard; with his weight loaded up on your lone, inside Butterfly Hook, simply guide the opponent off to the side for a Short Hook Sweep. [II] If the opponent manages to bypass your shin, use your Far Butterfly Hook to keep him away while you bring your shin back onto his belly. Use your legs to kick him back as you sit up, recompose Butterfly, and finish with a Collar & Elbow Control Hook Sweep. [III] If you can't knock him away, suck his leg into your arm by retracting your hooks and switch to X-Guard for the Unbalance Sweep.
