2 Part Lesson — Marcelo mitigates several threats in series from Closed Guard (Top): [I] Don't let your arm get crossed past centerline by driving your elbow down alongside the opponent's while pinching his hip with your knee. Feed the sameside lapel into your caught hand to further defend the 2on1 Control. [II] If your opponent climbs up onto your back, stay on your knees and fight to grab his sameside lapel; use this control to pull him back down in front. If he switches for the armbar, keep stable by propping up your leg behind his hips and pull yourself close to his head where you can slowly shake out your elbow to freedom.
