3 Part Lesson — Marcelo breaks free from a rather insistent Closed Guard: [I] Evade the dangers beset inside your opponent's Closed Guard by promptly gathering control over his or her wrists and popping up to your feet to dig under the legs for the break. [II] If your opponent binds you with Double Underhooks, develop a Frame across the face to help you regain your posture. Avoid letting your opponent shove your Frame aside in either direction; utilize the adjacent hand to help deter progress in the respective opposite direction. [III] If your opponent claims Double Overhooks, work to free one side at a time until you can recover the hands and stand up. If you are still held tightly despite freeing your arms out from under the armpits, place both hands on the opponent's hips as you rise and press straight down until the ankles uncross.

Would you do anything different if the bottom person has their legs crossed the other way, meaning that when you turn to lift the leg and open the guard, you're actually lifting the bottom leg?
