3 Part Lesson -- Marcelo counters a few common defenses to his entry into the Farside Armbar: If your opponent is blocking your hip with his or her near-side arm, cut your far-knee across the opponent's elbow and staple down the arm from the other side. [05:08] If your opponent plans on defending later by framing your leg away from his or her face after you fall to the far-side, find a home for your heel right away; either spur your foot across the head or tuck it into the armpit, whichever way is the path of least resistance. [09:52] Don't confuse the first two scenarios together; either your opponent is going to defend early and block your hip or he or she is going to frame against your leg over the face.
