3 Part Lesson -- Marcelo maintains his dominant top position: Once you find a Front Headlock, you don't want to lose the progress you've gained towards finding a finish. If you transition to the opponent's back, they may be waiting to fall onto a hip and recover back their guard. If this happens, cut your knee that inserts behind the triceps away from the opponent's legs. Slide your knee out of reach and continue to pin the opponent down with an upper body control. [03:43] Pull your arm away from the far-side to prevent your opponent from capturing it and countering you with a roll-over. You don't necessarily need an Underhook to hold the position; simply cup around the opponent's shoulder and prevent his or her recovery. [05:59] If your opponent happens to sit through to his or her hip, don't let them insert a Butterfly Hook for a Lift or Recovery. Pick up their upper body and run them back down onto their side by driving from your toes. Always run towards the direction away from the foot that tries to hook inside your legs.
