2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo hits the so-called "John Wayne" Sweep: If your opponent fences an Underhook and places you in a flattened half guard, switch your feet from the outside to the inside and adduct your knee, bringing the opponent's weight above your hips. Switch your feet back to the outside but stomp your foot on the outside of his or her knee as you bridge over into a reversal. [02:33] If your opponent brings their weight back off of your hips towards the pass, they are leaving themselves open for you to insert a Butterfly-Hook. Elevate the hook to sweep them directly over; or if they post, build a frame against a potential Cross-face and pummel for an Underhook. You can recompose your preferred guard or try sweeping against with your Butterfly-Hook.
