2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo clinches for a sweep: If you encounter difficulty setting up quick controls for a Hook Sweep, pummel for Double Underhooks to help break down your opponent's posture. If you cannot clasp your hands together, switch your arm out from underneath and lock your opponent's head and arm together with a Gable Grip. Release your opponent's head so that you can concentrate on holding their shoulder as you sit up for a Hook Sweep. You can lift and reverse them or even kick out their knee to remove their base for the sweep. [05:45] Don't let your opponent bring their arm in front of your face to frame and possibly escape. Use your hooks and clinch to pull their head close to yours before setting up your sweep.
