Sprawl vs Sacrifice Throw > Bridge vs Roll
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo prevents a counter to his takedown: Don't over-commit when finishing a takedown; your opponent may use your momentum against you and reverse with a Sacrifice Throw. If you feel like your opponent may attempt this as you finish a shot, release your opponent's legs upon landing and push yourself back with your hands on the mat while sprawling your hips. Quickly, re-grab your opponent so that they cannot get back up to their feet after you stuff their counter-technique. [03:41] If your opponent is holding your cross arm when falling back for the Sumigaeshi or Obitorigaeshi, you may not be able to reliably post against the flip. Instead, catch yourself with your feet in a back-bridge, keeping your weighting on your opponent, and turn towards their legs to establish control of the position.
