2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo uses a tight clinching control or Shoulder-Clamp to sweep from Half Guard: If your opponent is creating posture and framing against your Underhook from Half Guard, you can switch for a stronger control by isolating their shoulder with a Gable Grip. Lock your hands together and pull your opponent close leaving no space between as you look to sit up and find Butterfly Hooks. You can execute a Hook Sweep or kick out their base while holding their shoulder for control. [02:54] If you cannot sit up and gain posture using the control over your opponent's shoulder, quickly make a switch and gather their head inside your arms. Clasp your hands with the Gable Grip again, but this time apply the John Wayne Sweep from Half Guard to reverse your opponent and get on top.
