Reconsolidating Top Control
Marcelo & Tyler help Jon out with a problematic sweeping scenario: If you come up from a less than ideal sweeping position, e.g. one that leaves you vulnerable to leg-attacks or back-takes; as demonstrated here from the 50/50 (or 50-Zero, 60/40, Y-Guard, et al.), hold the position as best you can and anyway possible first for points. Then, after you've secured yourself on top for the scoring interval, quickly scramble out into a better position that is more safe. This may even involve exploding into a 360° spin if necessary. Whatever it takes to not allow your opponent to take advantage of your slightly exposed position.
