2-Part Advanced Lesson -- Bernardo shares key details for executing his infamous Over/Under Pass without the gi: Connect your shoulder onto your opponent's torso while maintaining a strong upper body frame with your arms attached around their thighs. Utilize the friction you have available from your opponent's shorts, but don't make illegal grips. Use your elbow to help guide your opponent's bottom-leg straight enough to clear your legs around to the side. Settle into top position by adjusting your arms into Under-Hook & Head-Control. [3:32] Don't enter into the Over/Under without first making your opponent uncomfortable; e.g. if they are playing a Seated Butterfly-Guard, do not just crawl yourself into the position against their limbs. Instead, disrupt their position beforehand by grabbing onto their ankles and lifting their legs up off the mat, forcing their back to fall flat onto the mat. Before they have a chance to effectively react, drop down into your Over/Under position as they look to reset their base. After you've cleared your opponent's guard, quickly take control over top-position by attacking with a Cross-face. Follow up your head-control with a far-side under-hook, but make sure not to fall into a Triangle while your hand is still in between their legs. Do so by keeping your head next to their far-leg before you make the transfer for the Under-Hook.
