Master Fabio Gurgel shares with Paul & Josh vital elements of attacking from the Full-Mount: One of the most important parts of dominating from top-position in the Mount is the idea of offsetting your base such that your opponent's defenses are rendered less effective; rather than sitting atop of your opponent's belly, where in effect you are most susceptible to their bridge, one should shift themselves to the side slightly and be prepared to react off of their opponent's likely movement. When attempting to expose your opponent's arms, it can be difficult to move their elbows if they can slide their body up the mat while you hold onto a Cross-Face; instead, forgo the Cross-Face and set your forearm above your opponent's head as a backstop. This will prevent your opponent from redirecting your advance and correctly target their shoulder. Coupled with an Under-Hook, you can even advance forward into a High-Mount, trap their head with your shin, and apply a Superman Arm-Bar. At higher levels, both offense and defense can seemingly come down to a mixture of patience and foresight; if you know where your opponent can escape, you can wait for their vulnerability to get exposed at they take the risk to get out. If you are stuck in a bad position, you can expect an impatient aggressor to advance forward when you are still defensively strong.
