Marcelo shows John Smalls several ways to achieve the Triangle-Choke from Full-Guard: If you've captured your opponent between your legs inside the Closed-Guard, achieve an Over-Hook and secure your hand in place with a grip onto their collar. Look to control their opposite arm at the wrist so that you may push or pull it out of the way for your feet to uncross and relock over their shoulder for the Triangle. Cross their arm across your belly and pivot your hips to the outside without unlocking your legs to hit a finishing angle. If you lock your legs around for the Triangle and their hand or part of their forearm gets trapped inside, proceed towards the Fig.-4 despite their partial defense and deal with it afterwards by clearing it with your hand from the outside. If you cannot secure the Over-Hook from Closed-Guard, break off their grip on your lapels and turn it into 2on1-Control with their hand tucked outward. Place your feet on their hips to create distance so that you may pummel your leg, the one opposite to side of your 2on1-Control, inside to latch onto their shoulder. Try to beat their hand with your foot if they are monitoring your knee, so that you may land in the more ideal trapping method without their hand defending from inside.
