Marcelo talks about several important aspects of the Guillotine-Choke: The point of entry for attacking your opponent's neck while they are turtled up should come from the front rather than by wrapping around from the side. Jam your wrist as deeply as you can against their throat and quickly secure it into place by clasping together your hands with a Seat-Belt Grip. Attacks on the neck from Side-Control with the Guillotine-Choke generally require one to wrap around from the side, and the squeeze is typically more lateral pressure against vasculature rather than direct throttling of the windpipe. Oftentimes, attacking from the side will lead to further adjustments that will end up shifting your choke into the frontal variation, however it can alert them into an early defense. Hand-fight to remove your opponent's hands from your choking-arm while keeping tight pressure from on top; stay with their neck while they look to defend by changing position. If you need to take bottom position, make sure your hands are connected and your legs are primed to lock your opponent away from a proper defense.
