3 Part Technique - If you can help it, don't let your opponent connect his hands together for Underhook & Head Control after he passes your guard. Try to block his cross-facing arm from wrapping too tightly around your head by warding off his bicep with the edge of your forearm. Reinforce your frame by supporting your forearm with your other hand pushing behind your forearm's wrist. Use this defensive posture to rip off any grips on and steer his arm across to the opposite side, exposing his tricep for the Elbow Push Escape. If he manages to secure the cross-face before you can intercept his attempt to close the distance, wedge your nearside hand up from under his crossface and between your chests as you turn onto your farside shoulder. With your hand back in front of your face, turn back hard into his bicep while framing and escaping your hips for another opportunity to Elbow Push Escape. If you meet resistance on your turn back onto your shoulder, abandon the frame escape and remove his underhooking arm with both hands for the Hip Roll Escape instead.

Does blocking the cross-face in this manner leave one vulnerable to a north-south transition/choke?
