3 Part Technique - It's important to not just rely on pulling guard; you should consider the option of taking your opponent down to get on top. Control your opponent's collar and begin circling away from the side of the grip you've made. If he follows you by stepping forward, drop down onto his ankle and push him over with the Collar Grip for the Cross Ankle Pick. If he refuses to step forward to catch up to your footwork, snag his other leg around the knee for the Single Leg Takedown while dragging him down by the collar. If he begins to stand up to break your collar grip, slide your hand down to the end of his gi skirt and feed it to your other hand between his legs for Pumphandle Gi Grip. Use this control over his leg with the Collar Grip to drag your opponent down to the mat to finish the Single Leg Takedown.
