3 Part Technique - Use strong pedaling motions with your legs to hip escape away against an opponent clamping down on your hips from guard. The opponent may keep his elbows tucked inside to prevent submission attacks, so search for 2on1 instead. If he stays planted with weight on his front knee, Short Hook Sweep the opponent. If the opponent backs away from his knees, switch to Collar and Elbow Control to halt his escape and Hook Sweep. If the opponent exposes underneath his leg when backing away by posting, he is vulnerable to X Guard entries. Since the opponent's mindset has been to run away from the attacks, he is weight is correctly positioned to being taken down from X Guard.
