Over Under Control vs Butterfly, Over Under Pass vs Butterfly
Henrique breaks down a very important control and pass against the Butterfly Guard; namely, dealing with entry using the Over-Under. Since the drill is practiced here with the gi, emphasis is placed on leaning your weight toward the Over part of the Over Under Control. Think of the footwork for this pass as akin to that of the penetration step used in wrestling for shooting a takedown from standing. Knock away your opponent's wrists, revealing space to pummel for your overhook and underhook, as you step your foot inside his guard, laying your shin across his lap. When done correctly, your shoulder should shock your opponent's chest when you drive forward, knocking him back flat to the mat.
