2 Part Technique - Dismantling the Spider Guard requires balance and concentration. Never allow your opponent to get underneath your base; keep your weight firmly away from his hooks. Focus on freeing your arms, one at a time, by gripping his gi and picking him up off the mat. While airborne, his bicep hook will lose its strength, allowing you to free your other sleeve after establishing Inside Knee Control. Once you've broken out of his lasso, quickly transition into Half Guard where he can no longer bother you with the Spider Guard.
