Back Step Pass vs Half Guard, Back Step Half Guard to Back Control
3 Part Technique - The Back Step Pass is an exceptional option for passing your opponent's Half Guard, particularly when he decides to exclusively dedicate his energy toward trapping your foot during the Knee Slide Pass sans underhook. When this circumstance arises, toss your weight over his body onto the opposite side, allocating half of your distributed weight on the middle of his underhook and planting the other half securely basing on the mat. Your free leg can now be used to kick open your opponent's Reverse Half Guard and once unlocked, you may run for North/South to establish the top position. If he starts moving his underhook, pummel inside the space he gives up for a Reverse Underhook, stretching his side open for even more control. If you cannot seem to pass his guard from here, begin pulling him onto his knees and exposing his back. Before he has a chance to flip back down, throw yourself over the top of his hips and roll him into your Seatbelt Control with hooks.
