Far Side Armbar from Side Control, Far Side Armbar from Knee on Belly
2 Part Technique - Marcelo teaches his students one of his favorite submissions, the Farside Armbar from Side Control. Start by controlling your opponent's armpit with an underhook and pull him up onto his side without releasing your control. The Armbar can also be applied from Knee-On-Belly, but the balance and weight distribution is a bit different. In either case, take weight off of the leg that needs to spin around over his head and across the body. Traditionally, students are taught to wedge their shin into the farside armpit when taking the arm. Marcelo prefers to step over the body as he takes the arm to better stabilize the position. Find the finish by keeping tension on his arm throughout the armlock, and pull at the wrist, making sure he can't connect his arms together in defense.
