4 Part Lesson — Marcelo instructs his class on how to strip your opponent's grips on your sleeves while inside his Spider Guard. If you cannot gain strong upright posture to crouch back down with your hands inside, stomp on his bicep to free your arm from his push-hook and then double-up on the remaining sleeve grip, ripping it free like a pull-start lawnmower. Continue breaking sleeves grips until you are able to cut your lead knee either over the same side or across to Half Guard or Side Control, depending on which sleeve you are holding after the break(s). If you pour over into his Half, gain upper body control and pass out to Side Mount. If you cross over to the Knee Slide Pass, let go of the cross sleeve for a lapel/collar grip to establish the pass.
