2 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches his class the finer points of setting up a pass against the De-La-Riva Guard: [I] First and foremost, stand inside his guard with your knee driving into his DLR-Hook; otherwise you run the risk of giving up the sweep or worse. If he pivots his body in response to your outward pressure against his hook, pivot away from his changed angle to bring the position back into your favor. [II] If your opponent makes a grip on your near-sleave, immediately control the lapel to stabilize your position. Using your free hand, push away his other leg as you drive both knees over his hooking leg. Look to clamp down on his upper body before landing into Side Control after the Double Knee Slide Pass.
