2 Part Technique - The best option is to base yourself with a Collar and Knee Control if the opponent attempts to sweep using your sleeves as a control, particularly with De La Riva Guard. If the opponent uses a long De La Riva hook, use the first part of the Back Step Pass and return to your previous position, but with your knee pointing out to counter his hook. Use a Double Knee Pass to counter the opponent's remaining options; If his knee and foot are low, swing both feet over to side control. If his knee is low but his foot is blocking high, slide both knees over his thigh to cross over into side control.
