Short Scissors Sweep from Open Guard, Americana from Mount
Advanced Lesson -- Marcelo counters his opponent's counter to a Scissors-Sweep: If your opponent steps up their foot to post against the direction of your initial Swissors-Sweep, take your bottom-leg from the outside and place your foot on top of their knee; kick-out their posting leg to continue flipping them over with your shin-across and landing into the Full-Mount position. If your opponent hides their elbows from extension by flexing their arms close to their chest, take a cross-wrist grip and drive your weight down on top of their arm to pin it against the mat. Keeping the cross-wrist held down, drop your elbow beside their neck, and slip your opposite hand behind their elbow; reattach your grip onto your own wrist, forming a Figure-4. After isolating their arm to the side, slowly drag your partner's hand down towards their feet while keeping it against the mat as you begin to raise their elbow slightly and finish the Americana (a.k.a. Key-Lock, Udegarami, Paint-Brush, Top-Wristlock, Bent-Armlock, et al.).
