Bridging Hip Escape vs Side Control, Pendulum Sweep from Closed Guard
Marcelo answers his opponent's armbar-counter with a sweep: After recovering into your Closed-Guard out from underneath your opponent's Side-Control with a Bridging Hip-Escape, look to go on the offensive by collapsing their arm with both hands and pivoting your hips for an Arm-Lock. However, if your opponent begins stacking into you before you can erect a post against their near-side shoulder and make enough room for your leg to swing across their face, switch your grip on their arm and under-hook their knee instead to set up a Pendulum-Sweep; rock your far-leg outward and quickly swing it back inward to generate momentum to tilt your opponent towards the side you've trapped their sleeve. Undercut your pendulating leg so that your opponent doesn't land on top of it and prevent you from riding the sweep up on top into the Full-Mount. Once mounted, secure your opponent's arm into extension and slide your knee behind their shoulder to then maneuver perpendicularly into an Arm-Bar.
