Hook Sweep Variation from 1Leg X Guard
Marcelo counters his opponent's defensive reaction to an initial Hook-Sweep from Butterfly-Guard with a Reverse Hook-Sweep from Single-Leg X-Guard: Hand-fight to protect your feet from attack until you can scoot forward, closing the distance on your opponent and establishing a clinch with Over/Under-Control from Butterfly. Press your opponent's elbow inward with your over-hooking hand as you fall sideways onto your shoulder and elevate your Butterfly-Hook underneath their leg. If your opponent manages to step out with their opposite-leg in order to post and prevent your sweep, use your free-leg to Reverse Hip-Escape underneath their hips and advance directly into the Single-Leg X. Remember to keep your toes pointed towards the outside with the sole of your foot against their waist to avoid legal complications as well provide a buffer to push your opponent's hips away. Collect your opponent's far-sleeve and switch your Butterfly-Hook to a Reverse-Hook (i.e. transitioning your flexed-foot from their ipsalateral-leg to their contralateral); elevate your opponent with your Reverse-Butterfly towards the direction you've compromised their ability to post in prevention of your modified Hook-Sweep from 1-Leg X-Guard.
