Elbow Push Escape vs Side Control, Foot Wipe Escape vs Side Control
2 Part Technique - If your opponent lands on your side and is about to establish Side Control, avoid letting him reach around your head. Use your near arm to block his crossface and guide it to the other side of your body, with or without assistance from your other arm. Once his tricep is exposed, grab onto it with your nearside hand, thumb down, and extend your arm so that it is locked out straight. Hip escape to your elbow, and then hip escape one more onto your hand where you can recompose your guard. If you encounter trouble locking our your arm because he posts against the mat, move your hips away rather than his arm. If he don't feel enough pressure from his arm for the Elbow Push Escape, that means there is enough space between you for the Foot Wipe Escape back to guard.
