Hip Roll Escape vs Side Control, Sit Up Escape vs Side Control
Marcelo and his students discuss how to properly perform the Hip Roll Escape. Start by freeing your nearside shoulder, via control over your opponent's farside wrist. Once you are on your side and have pushed his arm down by your legs, turn your hips over to face the mat while hiding your back from your opponent's control. Using the balls of your feet, shove your opponent backward with your lower back and legs to reclaim guard. If at any point he takes weight off of your body to control your hips, change directions and rise up quickly for the Sit Up Escape.
