1 Part Technique - When you cannot transition on top for the stacking escape, and your opponent is about to break your grip, there is still a last ditch effort you can resort to. Purposely release your counter grip into his pull, but make sure to point your thumb down toward the mat, as if hitchhiking, while you roll over your opposite shoulder. Turning your thumb creates a bend at your arm that will buy you enough time to escape before he can readjust and finish.
