Triangle from Closed Guard
1 Part Technique - Understanding the difference between, and the reason for, a hip escape and a hip pivot, is a major part of understanding the proper mechanics for executing the Triangle Choke from Closed Guard. The hip escape is for the most part a way to create space. When attacking for a submissions, space is the enemy; you want to eliminate as much room as possible when locking the position for the finish. This is where pivoting your hips comes into play. The pivot allows you to change your angle and utilize the superior muscle groups of your legs to squeeze the triangle for the finish.
