3 Part Technique - Understand whether an opponent is forcing to pass or looking to attack your legs. When an opponent sits on your stomach, this is an immediate signal he's searching for your legs. Hip escape away to pull your leg down and push with your second leg to recover. If the opponent figure fours his legs, lock your legs too. Immediately hold the opponent's hands to prevent him from continuing his leg attack and climb up his upper body to establish a control. With his upper body tied up, you can freely recover guard without endangering your legs. In a different situation, the opponent might attempt toe holding against your guard. It's best to immediately free your foot, but hold his other leg to prevent him from rolling, finishing the attack. The situation will expose the opponent's back, if you continue the same concept of climbing up to control his upper body.
