2 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches how to handle a leg attack against Butterfly: [I] Marcelo pulls guard with the intention of sweeping, not playing guard and defending the pass. But sometimes, your opponent wants to just attack your legs rather than passing for dominant control. As soon as you realize your opponent has grabbed your foot with said intention, immediately grab his upper body, bringing him close, and place your instep on his stomach, setting him up for a Short Hook Sweep. When you arrive on top, keep a hold of his arms while you find a way to free your foot from his hands. [II] If you can't reposition your foot across your opponent's stomach, sweep as before but get ready to avoid his legs by blocking his knees and stepping around to the opposite side until you free your foot.
