2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shares with us his response for when his opponent foils his plan to attack the Farside Armbar by pulling away the space to run around the far shoulder: [I] If your opponent is strong enough to bring his shoulder back down to the mat while you are controlling his far arm with your head and both hands, base yourself on the farside with your elbows and switch for the Inverted Triangle; step over the opponent's head, landing your hip on the farside, and slide your bottom leg underneath his head, all while maintaining his far arm. Use your top heel to pull his other arm inside before locking up the figure-four, and then pushing yourself back up to kneeling, cinching up the lock with your hands if necessary for the finish. [II] If you happen to miss catching the opponent's arm for the Inverted Triangle upon landing on the farside, keep your top leg heavy and either get back on top again or slide your hips underneath his far shoulder for the Shin-In, Farside Armbar from Side Control.
