2 Part Lesson — Marcelo instructs his students on how to find the choke, even when the opponent nearly reverses out of the Back Position: [I] If you realize that your opponent is able to resist your pull back with the Seatbelt and moves into Reverse Side Control, sit up with him and splay your legs apart while maintaining control over his Back. Continue spreading your legs apart to break his hold and possibly catch him in the Crucifix for the Rear Naked Choke. [II] Resort to 1on1 Wrist Control when your opponent tries to raise your legs up and place your back on the mat; this will allow you to post behind and stop his attempt. More often than not, the opponent will forget to keep his chin tucked during this movement, allowing you easy access to the Straight Choke.
