1 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches defensive methods inside the Closed Guard: [I] Regardless of how you find yourself inside your opponent's Closed Guard, immediately begin implementing defensive measures against attacks on your arms by: 1) holding inverted grips on both same-side lapels, and 2) checking, following, and covering the opponent's hips as they pivot away or escape out for attack. If the opponent breaks one of your grips to climb for an armbar, take away his angle and remake your grip. If he swings his leg with the assistance of a hook under your leg, prepare to step up to post against the sweep and block his leg from reaching your face to escape the Armlock.
