Counter vs Berimbolo, Counter vs Spiral Guard
Marcelo discusses defensive stances against both the de-la-Riva Guard and Reverse DLR: Point your knee diagonally outward when he applies the DLR to go around, and point your knee downward when he tries to go underneath with the Reverse. If you successfully block one or the other, prepare to attack during the transition when he switches guards. It is incredibly important, especially in terms of Marcelo's style, to defend Guard Attacks as they form, and not when they are being applied.
