2 Part Lesson — Marcelo avoids danger after losing balance from a Muscle Sweep: When you stand up to break open your opponent's Closed Guard, if they successfully apply a Muscle or Lumberjack Sweep by underhooking your ankle, try your best to fall with base and land in balance. If you fall to your butt, quickly kneel in a half-split and immediately be wary of submission threats; evade the possibility of Triangles, Armbars, and Footlocks. If standing back up isn't your prefered option at this point, you can pummel both arms simultaneously under your opponent's legs directly into a Double Stack Pass. Be prepared to kick your opponent's hands if they try to wrangle your ankle for a Toehold. [05:08] If your opponent releases his Closed Guard to transition into K-Guard for leg attacks, quickly use your free foot to kick the opponent's butt and escape away from any Kneebar, Anklelock, Heelhook, etc. attempts.
