3 Part Lesson — Marcelo chases down a reluctant standing passer, and thwarts a forced response: If your opponent is actively disengaging from your Seated Butterfly Guard, keep your hands busy while flicking out your leg against the inside of the opponent's ankle for a trip. Hook behind their foot to help bring you closer to Shin-On-Shin Guard (Shin-to-Shin, Shin Guard, Koala Guard, Single Leg Control w/ Butterfly Hook, et al.) where you can switch to 1-Leg X-Guard for a Sweep or come up for a Takedown. [03:28] If your opponent feels forced into a quick pass, keep your hands up and post or frame against their shoulders to avoid the pressure. [07:50] If your opponent gets passed your legs, keep the frame against the head, neck, or shoulders to help stand back up to your feet, or keep their hips away long enough to reinsert your Butterfly Hooks for recovery.
