Marcelo shares a game-changing detail with Kanan for maintaining Side Control with a Guillotine threat and he shows Hudson the infamous Bas Rutten Neck-Crank: If your opponent is defending you from taking the Mount while you are locked onto their neck with a potential Guillotine Choke looming, take the time to stabilize yourself on top before advancing your position. Keep your far-leg out in base and sink your chest low in connection with your opponent's; don't allow your weight downward on top of their shoulder where you can easily be manipulated and rolled towards the opposite side. When the slight shift is performed correctly, your opponent will encounter uncomfortable pressure that will often illicit a window for attack. Certain moves place emphasis on taking away your opponent's ability to take in a full breath of fresh air, e.g. the Scarf-Hold (aka Kesagatame) can be used to find a tap when weight is properly applied. Another chest compression and "Air" Choke that comes to mind is that seen demonstrated here; https://streamable.com/ol1v (off-site link).
